Not because of Colvin not being signed, but that was the icing on the cake... My car was stolen from my apartment's parking lot. The really sucky part about that: I don't have theft insurance. So basically I'm SOL. I basically lost a $10,000 possesion :( ....I found out in the middle of studying for a mid-term too....And then when I got home from taking the mid-term, I find out Colvin signs with the loser Patsies. Real Bad Day!

Today is a new day, however. I rolled out of bed and everything is ok  .....The Cards are OK, we will be in the playoffs next year! (excuse me while I take off my official Tango-brand super-duper delux infrared rosy glasses :D)

Hope they find it!

The messed up thing is, is that I don't know when it was taken....I've resigned myself to the fact that it is probably gone. :(

Nope. Just uninsured and under insured and a minimum policy for property damage

Nope. My insurance cost was way too high, so I had to cut out the fat.....theft insurance was part of the fat.

In Arizona, all you have to get is liability.

Loses from theft are deductable on your taxes! Look into this!!
I don't know the specifics, but 10K could be a huge deduction.

bummer

Sorry to hear that Krang. Hopefully, it will turn up.

We had our car broken into visiting my wife's sister in Queens. The losses were minimal (a personal CD player and CD that were hidden in the center console) and that was about it. What made me the most PO'ed was that they undid my son's car seat so that they could fold the seat down to look in the trunk. Those things can be a bitch to install.

Anyway, hope it turns up....and that you passed the midterm!

Had my explorer broken into several years back at my girlfriend's apartment. Smashed the window, and then took a car phone from the center console. Didn't make much sense, what worth is a car phone? They left the cd changer sitting right next to it alone.

At least you won't be under one of these in a couple weeks.

You are right and with a students income you should be able to recoup most of it. I think the only problem is you might have to wait until next year to recoup it.

Get Turbo Tax ot Tax Cut....the Losses due to Theft or Vandalism forms are one of the ones it prompts you on.

Definitely look into it....you will surely get a good chunk of it back.

Krang,

Sorry about your car.. Now it's my turn! I am having a bad week. Friday 3/7 my car was vandalized in the parking garage here at work. They cut the convertible top in 5 places to get a cell phone & my Cardinal leather jacket. Two days later it was running a little out of sorts & I got the old "Service Engine Soon" light. So I brought the car down to my favorite mechanic & I'm doing EGR Valve & 3 fuel injectors & I still haven't gotten to the top. Nothing like spending the money I saved NOT renewing than on car repairs!! wooo-hooo.....

ummm...

Resident auto claims adjuster here. I seriously doubt theft insurance for automobiles is mandatory in any State. Only if the vehicle has a lien holder. Maybe Illinois, but I doubt it, I will verify it tomorrow.

Also Red Storm, Arizona carries no mandatory uninsured or underinsured motorist clause either. The companies do have to offer the coverage and the insured has to reject it in writing. Also it only covers you for injuries. It has nothing to do with damage or theft of your vehicle.

Don't try and argue this with me boys. I have been doing it since Sept. 1998 and get paid decent money to know what I am talking about.

KoC is right, all Arizona state law requires is MINIMUM Liability requirements of 15/30/10. $15,000 per person, not to exceed $30,000 per occurrence, and $10,000 per occurrence for property damage.

So if this is all you're carrying and you rear-end a guy in a jaguar, you're in real trouble. It's amazing Arizona's minimums are so damn low.

Krang sorry to hear about your lost, however realize that the info you are getting here is a little misleading. You can take the lost on your taxes however realize its a deduction against your income and you will only get back the amount of taxes you paid in to the government. You will not get back any more than the total amount of taxes you pay in this year, the government is not going to give you any money that you did not pay in as taxes. Sorry dude but that's how it works.

In California the property damage minimum is $5000. Unbelievable.

"Dude where's my car?" is not a good movie for those of us that have ever been in that situation. My Sebring was stolen about 3 years ago. Luckily I was insured, but the car was actually recovered in about a week. The guy had but about 1500 miles on it, and they almost caught him. They say that at least in this part of the country (VA) about 80% of stolen vehicles are recovered .

Good luck,

I'm sure the a$$hole is a Cowboy fan!

Thanks man! And thanks from everyone else!

In this part of the country, if your car is gone for more than 24 hrs., it is gone. I'm resigned to the fact that I will never see my 95 Red Acura Integra again :(.

But it is only property and at least none of my loved ones were harmed or killed.

Sorry for posting this late...I saw the post earlier..but with 56K internet connection disconnections and friday night going ons, I didn't get to it till now. first off, my apologies.

Second, this happened to my friend thanxsgiving 2001. He got it back after new years.....the thing is, it was recovered....in an apartment complex right down the street....my point is...it might serve you some justice to look in the parking spaces of apartment complexes around you..

About my friend, the cops said, "we drive in here a couple times a day, and we didn't notice it".......so on that note...Once again, search in your neighboorhood parking places...whether it be stores, apartments, businesses, etc...whatever...just look, because like I said, he got his back, and it wasn't 1000 feet from him. Kinda messed up, but hopefully you can get the same return.

Good luck
