Hurzeler staying positive after Brighton star forced off in pre-season

Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler insisted he is staying positive after winger Yankuba Minteh was forced off with an injury in pre-season.

The Seagulls defeated Roma 3-0, in what was an impressive display at the Amex, but the one negative of the day came when Minteh went down injured after a challenge.

The Gambia international did attempt to play on but was clearly in pain and withdrawn soon after. With key men Kaoru Mitoma and Carlos Baleba already sidelined and the start of the Premier League fast-approaching, it is a cause of concern for Hurzeler.

“Of course, it’s not a great sign if a player has to go off because of pain,” admitted the German coach. “But we have to wait for the scan.

“In general, I’m a positive person, so let’s stay positive and wait for the scan.”

Going into further detail on the injury, he explained: “So it seems to be a hit. Not particularly in the ankle area, a little bit higher.

“So therefore, we have to wait how it continues, the pain and how he progresses.”
