The Carolina Hurricanes (44-19-6) return to action this afternoon as they take on the Pittsburgh Penguins (35-18-16) at the PPG Paints Arena starting at 3 P.M.
This is a big game for the Penguins as they currently find themselves eight points behind the first place Hurricanes in the Metropolitan Division with time to catch them running out.
The Canes are coming off two recent overtime wins against these Pens, both on home ice.
Neither team is necessarily on a hot streak. The Canes are 6-4-0 in their last 10 games while the Pens are 4-3-3, although Carolina has won two in a row. Pittsburgh won yesterday’s game in a shootout.
Look for Fred Andersen in net for the Canes while Stuart Skinner should be the goalie of choice for the Penguins.
There are no expected lineup changes for Carolina but there was no morning skate so time will tell.
