McGregor and Holloway met for the first time back in 2013, and McGregor (22-6) defeated Holloway (27-9) via unanimous decision. Since then, McGregor has become one of the biggest names in the sport, but he has also dealt with injuries, faced lawsuits and been accused of sexual assault multiple times.
"Notorious" last fought in 2021, losing two straight battles against Dustin Poirier. In the last bout, he suffered a broken left leg and later had to undergo surgery. He is now hoping to prove that he's still one of the best fighters in the world.
Holloway, a former UFC featherweight and BMF champion, has gone 2-2 in his last four fights. With all eyes on this bout, Holloway, one of the sharpest punchers in MMA history, is ready to put on a show against McGregor.
"At the end of the day, I've got to go out there, I've got to be exciting. I've got to get a big finish, or if not a big finish, a super dominant win in a way where people are just mind-blown, and people are excited about it," Holloway told MMA Fighting.
"People keep forgetting. Yes, we're fighters, we need to win, but we're also entertainers. That's what I plan to do. That's why people tune into my fights, and this fight is going to be no different."
