UConn comes into the Final Four with 54 consecutive wins as it looks to extend its record of 12 national championships. The Huskies defeated No. 6 seed Notre Dame 70-52 in the Fort Worth 1 regional final on Sunday after blowout wins over UTSA, Syracuse, and North Carolina earlier in the tournament.
South Carolina’s closest games in the Sacramento 4 regional were their 26-point victories over No. 4 seed Oklahoma in the Sweet Sixteen and No. 3 seed TCU in the Elite Eight. The Gamecocks opened the tournament with blowouts of Southern and USC and returned to the Final Four for the sixth consecutive year. South Carolina won championships in 2022 and 2024 during that run, as well as claiming the program’s first title in 2017.
Sarah Strong leads the Huskies with averages of 18.6 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 3.4 steals, while fellow All-American Azzi Fudd gets 17.5 points and 2.6 thefts per game. Joyce Edwards scores an average of 19.7 points for the Gamecocks, with Ta’Niya Latson dropping 14.4 points per game, Madina Okot producing 13.2 points and 10.8 boards a night, and Raven Johnson booking 10.2 points and 5.3 assists per contest.
The winner advances to Sunday’s national championship game against the winner of the later UCLA-Texas semifinal.
