On Friday evening, the top-seeded team in the West Region — the Florida Gators — will open up their NCAA Tournament bracket in Raleigh North Carolina against the No. 16-seeded Norfolk State Spartans. Todd Golden's team won the SEC Tournament last weekend with wins over the Missouri Tigers, Alabama Crimson Tide and Tennessee Volunteers, respectively. That trio of victories represents half of UF's current six-game winning streak.
The Spartans earned an automatic qualifier to the Big Dance with the MEAC Tournament championship, defeating the Howard Bison to take the conference crown. Norfolk State has faced Florida once before on the collegiate parquet back in 2012 — an 84-50 rout by the Gators in the Sweet 16 of that year's NCAA Tournament.
