Postseason play is here for the BYU Cougars. They play in the first round of the Big 12 Tournament in Kansas City on Tuesday night — Their opponent, the Kansas State Wildcats. BYU is the 10th seed in the tournament, while K State is the 15th.

BYU enters the conference tournament with a 21-10 record, and finished at 9-9 in the Big 12. The Cougars enter the tourney with some momentum after beating no. 10 (now no. 16) Texas Tech by a final score of 82-76 in the regular season finale. That big win, after dropping three games in a row.

Kansas State has a 12-19 overall record and went 3-15 in conference play. Their season finale was at no. 14 Kansas on Saturday, where they lost by a final score of 104-85. They are playing under Matthew Driscoll, after Jerome Tang was fired midseason.

BYU and Kansas State did meet at the start of conference play this year, back on Jan. 3. BYU won that meeting in Manhattan by 10, with a final score of 83-73.

This will be the 12th meeting all-time between the Cougars and Wildcats with BYU leading 6-5. The neutral site record is 1 win for BYU, two for K State. The two teams have not met in Big 12 Tournament in BYU’s three years in the conference.

BYU is pretty heavily favored by ESPN’s Matchup Predictor, with an almost 84 percent chance of winning. The winner of Tuesday night’s game goes on to face the no. 7 seed West Virginia on Wed. at 5 p.m. MST on ESPN2. Click here for the full bracket.
