World Cup titleholder Argentina faces off against Switzerland at Arrowhead Stadium on Saturday in what will be the last of this year’s four quarterfinal fixtures. The winner of this matchup will advance to face either England or Norway in the semis, with Lionel Messi hoping to keep alive his chances of becoming a back-to-back champion.
La Albiceleste’s skipper has been imperious in North America so far this summer and currently leads the Golden Boot battle with eight goals from five games. However, Lionel Scaloni’s side have looked considerably shakier in each of their last two outings and only just scraped past Egypt after coming from two goals down to win 3-2 last time out.

Switzerland also squeezed through by the skin of its teeth following a penalty shootout victory over Colombia in the last 16. Bundesliga prospects Johan Manzambi and Luca Jaquez each missed that fixture through injury and should remain sidelined here, along with team-mate Michael Aebischer.
Any Argentina changes are more likely to come down to Scaloni’s preference after his team conceded twice for the second game running. Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez could return to the XI in place of Julian Alvarez, while Nico Gonzalez also may have done enough to earn a promotion to start after helping spark his side’s comeback against Egypt.
