The No. 1 seed Crimson Tide advanced to the semifinals with a 5-1 win over No. 4 seed Nebraska on Saturday, May 30, at Devon Park. Alabama opened its WCWS run with a hard-fought 6-3 victory over No. 8 seed UCLA on Thursday.

No. 11-seeded Texas Tech bypassed an elimination round with an 8-7 win over UCLA through nine innings on Sunday. The Red Raiders suffered a nine-inning 2-1 loss to Tennessee on Saturday after starting off with a 8-0 shutout over Mississippi State in five innings.

Alabama and Texas Tech last met in 2017, when the Crimson Tide swept the series with back-to-back wins, including a run-rule shutout in six innings. Alabama needs one win to advance to the Women's College World Series championship, while Texas Tech would need to beat the Crimson Tide twice to knock Alabama out and advance.
