Aston Villa’s final pre-season fixture takes place against an undefeated Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday.

Borussia Mönchengladbach hosts Premier League outfit Aston Villa on Saturday in the hopes of collecting its seventh win from as many pre-season fixtures. The Germans have put together a perfect run of form so far this summer but have saved their most difficult test for last as they host Unai Emery’s side at Borussia-Park.
Die Fohlen are enjoying a productive first summer under manager Eugen Polanski and have outscored their six opponents so far this summer 38-3. Almost half that tally came from a 15-0 hammering of eighth-tier Rottach-Egern, granted, though their run also includes a more convincing 4-1 triumph over Bundesliga rival Hoffenheim.
Villa, on the other hand, has lost two games in a row, though it’s worth highlighting each of those games were against teams that featured in the final four of last term’s Champions League. The Villans surrendered 2-1 against UCL semi-finalist Bayern Munich in Hong Kong before seeing out an identical result in the Super Cup defeat to PSG on Wednesday.
England stars Ollie Watkins and Ezri Konsa will not feature in Germany this weekend after only recently returning to the fold following an extended post-World Cup break. Fortunately, 17-year-old striker Brian Madjo has shone in Watkins’ absence up front and picked up his fifth goal of pre-season in the defeat to PSG.
