Philadelphia prioritizes building through the trenches, and four years after making Cam Jurgens a second-round pick, the Eagles and the Pro Bowl center have agreed to a four-year, $68 million extension with a $39.4 million guarantee, which contractually ties him to Philadelphia through the 2029 season, per the team and his agent Ryan Tollner.

The deal will impact about two hours down I-95 South, as Baltimore now has a contract floor for negotiations with Pro Bowl center Tyler Linderbaum.

The Ravens have until May 1 to decide on Kyle Hamilton and Tyler Linderbaum's fifth-year options, and GM Eric DeCosta is in no rush to announce a conclusion. NFL rookies are given four-year contracts when they enter the league; first-round picks include a team option for a fifth season, which teams can choose to pick up or decline.

Because Jurgens was a second-round pick, the Eagles were forced to decide rather quickly. Linderbaum made this an easy decision, but the Ravens organization is taking its time. Since he's been to two Pro Bowls, Linderbaum's fifth-year option would cost Baltimore $23.4 million for the 2026 season. While meeting with the media on Tuesday to discuss the 2025 NFL draft, DeCosta provided no update and sounded prepared to take things down to the final day despite clearly looking to sign Linderbaum to a long-term deal.

Linderbaum's option could be declined while Baltimore negotiates a long-term contract with more manageable numbers for the center.

Jurgens helped reset the market

Jurgens didn't reset the market, but he's the second-highest-paid center in the NFL in total value, average per year, and guarantees.

With both teams returning to their training facilities for off-season workouts, Linderbaum is aware of Jurgens' new contract. Linderbaum is focused on continuing his career trajectory as one of the league's top centers who keeps improving.

"He's obviously one of the best centers in the league, a really high-caliber player," Linderbaum said. "Excited for him.

"I'll let my agent handle that. I'm just focusing on becoming as good of a football player as I can be for this team. [I'm] coming in here every day and putting my best foot forward. Let all the other things take care of itself. I'm giving my all to the team right now, that's my focus, and that's how it should be."
