The Indianapolis Colts will be at a relatively big rest disadvantage this season compared to their opponents.

Overall, the Colts' opponents this season will have a six-day rest advantage over Indianapolis. Only five teams are at a larger disadvantage than the Colts.

So how is this determined?

For example, in Weeks 7 and 8, the Colts' opponents are both coming off their byes while Indianapolis plays each of those weeks. This gives the Vikings and Jaguars each a seven-day rest edge over the Colts.

On the flip side, when the Colts are coming out of their bye in Week 14, they gain a seven-day rest advantage over Philadelphia.

Here is a breakdown by week of where the Colts' advantages and disadvantages in regards to rest lie:

  • Week 2: at Kansas City (+1)
  • Week 5: at Pittsburgh (-3)
  • Week 7: at Minnesota (-7)
  • Week 8: at Jacksonville (-7)
  • Week 12: vs. New York Giants (+3)
  • Week 14: at Philadelphia (+7)

The teams with the greatest rest advantage are Chicago (+15), Buffalo (+14), and Dallas (+12).

The three teams at the largest disadvantage are the LA Chargers (-24), Philadelphia Eagles (-15), and the Las Vegas Raiders (-13).

While the amount of rest a team has compared to their opponents isn't the be-all end-all, over the course of a long NFL season, it is noteworthy. Additional time between games means more time to prepare and more time to rest up and get healthy.
