The Washington Commanders have made a lot of changes over the last few years. Bringing in Adam Peters as general manager and Dan Quinn as head coach really turned the team around in 2024, and while 2025 wasn't a great season, the offseason changes certainly point to a better 2026.
That said, training camp doesn't start for another week, and we're likely to see even more roster changes before the season begins. ESPN's Bill Barnwell recently discussed players on each NFL team who are worth at least one first-round draft pick in a trade, and the Commanders had four players listed.
So, where was quarterback Jayden Daniels? Barnwell said he was worth three first-round picks.
Barnwell isn't wrong in his analysis; all four of those players are worth at least a first-round pick in a trade. However, the likelihood that any of them will get traded is incredibly minuscule. Tunsil just signed an extension that made him the highest-paid offensive lineman in the league, and Conerly continues to improve, so why would the Commanders want to break up Jayden Daniels' protection?
They don't, and they won't, unless something crazy happens and they desperately need to make that trade.
As for Styles, well, they already know he's going to be impactful on this Commanders' defense. They are in no way motivated to find a new home for a player who looks to be a stud.
And Daniels, can you imagine how many first-round picks he would've been "worth" one year ago? Washington believes he'll return to being that player again in 2026.
The Commanders definitely have players who have value on the trade market. But with the cap space they have, Adam Peters isn't looking to trade. And certainly not any of the players mentioned in this article, as they are all crucial to the Commanders' success in 2206.
