Mikel Brown Jr. completed his first NBA Summer League game with Brooklyn Nets on Monday, July 6, finishing with 10 points, four assists, one rebound and two turnovers in their 100-79 win over the Golden State Warriors Blue squad.
Brown Jr. was taken sixth overall in the 2026 NBA Draft after one season at Louisville. He played in 21 games for the Cardinals, averaging 18.2 points, 4.7 assists and 3.3 rebounds per game.
The 6-foot-5 Orlando, Florida, native was named to the ACC's All-Rookie team and broke the conference's single-game freshman scoring record with 45 points during a Feb. 9 win over NC State at the KFC Yum! Center.
Brown wasn't the only Louisville player taken in this year's draft. Ryan Conwell was selected 37th overall by the Oklahoma City Thunder before being traded to the Miami Heat.
Conwell is joined on the Heat's summer league roster by former Cardinals teammate J'Vonne Hadley, who signed an Exhibit-10 contract with Miami. Isaac McKneely also signed an Exhibit-10 contract and will compete in the summer league with the Atlanta Hawks, as the two are using this time to try and secure a roster spot.
The Heat beat the San Antonio Spurs 88-87 on Friday, July 3. Conwell finished with 21 points, three rebounds and three assists in 29 minutes. Hadley recorded four points, six rebounds and two assists in 24 minutes. Both former Cardinals were in the starting lineup.
The Heat played again Sunday, July 5, falling to the Los Angeles Lakers 95-93 in double overtime. Conwell finished with 16 points, five rebounds and two assists in 31 minutes. Hadley recorded four points, four rebounds and two assists in 17 minutes. Both were in the starting lineup again.
The Hawks lost to the Utah Jazz 103-102 in overtime Saturday, July 4. McKneely scored five points off the bench in 10 minutes.
The Hawks then defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 82-77 on Monday, July 6. McKneely finished with eight points, four rebounds and one assist in 19 minutes off the bench.
Chucky Hepburn, who signed a two-way deal with the Toronto Raptors as an undrafted free agent after last year's draft, is back for another summer league session after tearing his meniscus back in January. The Raptors' first game of the summer is Friday, July 10, in Las Vegas.
