If they can see some action in the first preseason game is the latest. So I guess 2 to 3 days before the fisrt preseason games. Anything after that and I think they can not make a impact right away. What do you guys think.

I think the length of a holdout would have a much greater impact on Johnson then on Pace. Johnson needs to get in camp, get reps and learn not only the pro game, but the Cards offense. Pace needs camp more to learn the pseed of the pro game and technique.

FLAGSTAFF - On the opening night of training camp Friday, Cardinals offensive coordinator Jerry Sullivan told his receivers that the depth chart wasn't set in stone, like "those Bible passages up at the Grand Canyon."
He proved that the first day of practice when he demoted Jason McAddley to the second team for running the wrong route and spoiling a potential touchdown.

I think it depends on the player, the position, and the complexity of the team's offense/ defense. Simeon Rice missed most (all?) of training camp his rookie season, and was Defensive Rookie-of-the Year. Leonard Davis missed all of camp, and was named to the All-Rookie team.
Not saying camp and the preseason aren't important, but you have to believe that players with true first-round talent should be quick studies, more often than not.
