After winning two games in a row in The Bay, the Golden State Warriors looked poised to ride into Texas and beat the Houston Rockets on their own court in Game 5, but clearly, there were other plans.
At halftime, the Warriors found themselves trailing 76-49. Houston was led by a remarkably efficient 4-5 from deep first half from Fred VanVleet, who led all scorers with 19 first-half points.
However, the story of the Warriors' halftime deficit is not thanks to just VanVleet's excellent play.

The Warriors, as a whole, shot 34.5 percent from deep in the first half, which is generally acceptable, although not great. Houston, on the other hand, converted a blistering 60 percent of their attempts from deep.
Stephen Curry was solid, with 11 first-half points, although the Warriors will need him to tap into "Chef Curry" mode if they want to crawl back and win.
The main story of the first half has been Amen Thompson, who finished with 11 points, two assists, a lone rebound, a block, and a whopping five steals.
Allen Iverson owns the record for the most steals in a playoff game with 10, and Thompson is well on his way to beating that, although chances are garbage time will be long and he won't play nearly as much in the second half.
By disrptuing passing lanes, hounding the ball, and making every possession precaroius for Golden State, Thomspson seems to have the Rockets ready to crawl back, and will look to narrow the gap in the series at 3-2.
