How Como strengthen squad with January signings

Como continued to strengthen their squad in a busy January transfer period, which saw the arrival of several players to help bolster their squad and first team as they set their sights on establishing themselves as a household name in the Serie A. With the high-profile signings of midfielder Maxence Caqueret from Lyon for €15m and winger Assane from Real Betis for €12m, their matchday squad is looking healthy.

The club also invested in some younger talent that may have gone under the radar, but these players are ones for the future and will be sure to help to grow their squad as they set their sights on further glory. Sebastian Burlacu and Kristians Mezsargs arrived at Como and are due to fit into the U19 team for now, but they will be an asset to the club in the future, no doubt.

With immense talent and coming in as internationally capped signings from Latvia and Romania, respectively, they are a great indicator of Como’s growing appeal and the philosophy behind their football and development as a club. They are certainly a couple of players to keep a watchful eye on as they progress.

Even if you had a lot of money wagering on offshore sports betting apps – which Gavin Beech has found some of the best of – I’m not sure anyone could have predicted seeing this Como 1907 blast in form this season and their rise up in Italian football. You certainly wouldn’t have put money on it. Their fluid style and bravery against much more formidable foes has been inspirational, yet most of all entertaining – which may indicate just why new players are so attracted to the club. The team has instilled a fighting spirit that has spurred them into 13th in the Serie A table and has caused a raucous amongst the top teams, particularly with the Como wins over Napoli, Roma, and Atalanta across the season so far. This has seen them attract a lot of attention from clubs across Europe for both their players and manager.

With the results going their way in the first half of the season and the owners with a clear goal of trying to bring glory to this historic club through an international fan base, there was a cash injection for further squad enhancements during the January transfer period, and it looks like these signings are already paying off with the team offering some delightful performances since.

Whilst the brain behind the operation is the quirky and pragmatic Fabregas, who has attracted attention this season after earning his managerial stripes by getting the club promoted from Serie B last year, the real talent has lain amongst some of the players coming into their own in this Como team.

The team’s shining star has been Nico Paz, who has been playing very well and attracting attention from huge clubs around Europe, including his old one, Real Madrid. Paz has played an influential role in this free-roaming, fluid team and is certainly a player to watch for the future. His buddy Diao was also brought in during the January transfer window and has hit the ground running with five goals in his first eight games for the side—a surefire sign of the team prospering.

The question is whether Como can hang on to their assets to build for the future. With the owners showing clear belief in the team through investment and support, things are certainly heading in the right direction, but it may come down to personal dedication and loyalty to see the team progress onto bigger and better things over a sustained period. Retaining their players and Fabregas would be the first step towards that if they can achieve a mid-table finish this year and have their eyes set on further achievements next year. However, from the looks of the January transfer window, this club is ready to propel onto bigger and better things.
