Houston is expected to extend an $8.01 million qualifying offer to Eason, according to a team source, who was granted anonymity to discuss deliberations still in progress. That move would officially make Eason a restricted free agent. Eason admitted that there were times last season when he struggled mentally with the scrutiny that came with playing a full season knowing his contract situation was unsettled. Unfortunately for him, there’s a chance he won’t be finalizing a new deal anytime soon as the Rockets sort through all the other business they have to handle.
