After rumors circulated Wednesday night regarding LaMelo Ball, the Charlotte Hornetsfinalized a deal to trade him Thursday morning. In a shocking move, Ball and Josh Green will be headed to the Minnesota Timberwolves for a package that includes Naz Reid, a 2033 first-round draft pick, three second-round draft picks and three first-round pick swaps.

The move comes after the Hornets were gaining serious momentum in the Eastern Conference, having made a 25-win improvement from a season prior, going from 19-63 to 44-38. As a result, Charlotte finished one game away from their first playoff berth since the 2015-16 season, falling to the Orlando Magic in the NBA Play-In Tournament.

Now, without Ball, the Hornets seem to have pushed their window of contention down the line even further despite the strides they made last season. As for Minnesota, the Timberwolves have finally paired Anthony Edwards with another All-Star caliber talent in a highly contested Western Conference.
