Jun. 5—ROCHESTER — After six and a half innings, the Rochester Honkers trailed 3-1, but three runs in the bottom of the seventh broke the game open and helped them to a 4-3 win over the Waterloo Bucks in front of a crowd of 625 people on Thursday at Mayo Field.
Sacramento State University centerfielder Sam Harry notched two of the Honkers' seven hits, including a double in the seventh, and drove in two runs. Harry holds a .333 batting average through eight games played.
Five other Honkers recorded hits in the win on Thursday: Matt MacDonald, Robert Orr, Seth Thompson, Jackson Norum and Andrew Grenert.
Butler Community College pitcher Cooper Annin threw five innings for Rochester, allowing five hits, one earned run and five walks while striking out six. San Diego State University pitcher Alito McBean earned the win on the mound for the Honkers, limiting the Bucks to no hits, one earned run and three walks across 1 1/3 innings. McBean also threw three strikeouts.
Caleb Parker recorded a team-high two hits for Waterloo. Brody Zielinski allowed three hits, no runs or walks through five innings pitched for the Bucks and tallied four strikeouts.
The Honkers improve to 4-5 on the season, while the Bucks drop to 6-5.
Rochester will wrap up its series against the Bucks at 6:35 p.m. Friday in Waterloo, Iowa.
