The Holland Christian girls track and field team claimed the Division 2 regional championship on Saturday, dominating the competition.
The Maroons scored 187 points - 78 more than runner-up Coopersville. Unity Christian was third with 74. Hamilton was ninth with 23 in the 14-team field.
In the boys meet, Hamilton was fifth with 52 and Holland Christian was eighth with 46. Wayland won with 94, just ahead of Coopersville (91).
Holland Christian's Avery Engbers won the regional title in the 1,600 meters in 5:14.85. Engbers (11:31.70) and Ellery Lampen (11:35.59) went 1-2 in the 3,200 meters to qualify.
Kate Van Appledorn (39-6) and Miya DeBlecourt (36-7 1/2) went 1-2 in the shot put to qualify for state. Van Appledorn won the discus (131-7) and DeBlecourt was fourth (116-9) to qualify in a second event.
Camryn Siegers (5-3) and Sophie Jones went 1-2 in the high jump
Eliana Stob (2:18.81) and Layla Geurink (2:19.10) went 2-3 in the 800 meters to qualify for state. Esther Vanderbilt took second in the 100 hurdles to qualify in 15.00 and the 300 hurdles (46.32).
Stob, Olivia Hollebeek, Geurink and Anika Stob won the 4x400 (4:04.20). The Stob sisters, Lampen and Geurink won the 4x800 relay (9:38.50).
The Maroons took second in the 4x100 relay with Annalise Capestany, Kensie Mulder, Abby VanDusseldorp and Harmoni Osterink finishing in 51.28. Mulder took second in the pole vault (10-0). Adelyn Halma took fifth in the high jump in a qualifying distance of 16-5 1/2.
Hamilton's Jenna Dozeman took third in the 400 meters in a qualifying time of 1:00.21. She was third in the long jump (16-6 1/4) to qualify.
In the boys meet, Hamilton brothers Hudsen Hulst (14.50) and Garner Hulst (15.15) went 1-2 in the 110-meter hurdles to qualify for state. They teamed with Carter Hickok and Noel Vigil to take second in the 4x200 (1:30.87).
Hamilton's Carter Ruzicka took second in the shot put (46-6).
Holland Christian's Riley Hart took third in the 400 meters (51.04) to qualify for state. Landon Gerritsma took fourth in the 800 meters and qualified for state in 1:58.97. Zach Diller took sixth in the 1,600 in a qualifying time of 4:26.50. Grant Lampen took second in the 3,200 (9:47.14).
Will Johnson, Gerritsma, Cole Coffman and Hart took third in the 4x400 relay to qualify for state in 3:28.45. Coffman, Hart, Diller and Gerritsma took second in the 4x800 (8:06.78). Johnson took second in the pole vault (13-11).
