The Chicago Bears selected Luther Burden III out of Missouri with their 39th overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft. This was mostly a shocking selection for anyone who follows the Bears closely.
After selecting Rome Odunze last year, and having DJ Moore in place, it didn't feel like a spot to use a receiver, but he was the best player available and has the potential to do some damage in this offense. Burden had 192 catches for 2,263 yards and 21 touchdowns in 38 games with Missouri.
New head coach Ben Johnson will look to utilize Burden's explosive playmaking ability in his offense, where quarterback Caleb Williams gets another weapon in the passing game. With the additions of Burden and tight end Colston Loveland, along with an improved offensive line, the stage is set for Williams to break out in 2025.
