The Iowa women’s basketball roster transfer-portal transformation has continued with an intriguing Division III acquisition.
High-scoring point guard Bria Medina from Knox College, has committed to the Hawkeyes, a source with direct knowledge of her decision told the Des Moines Register. She has one year of eligibility remaining after a stellar junior season in which she averaged 23.6 points per game to rank second in Division III.
Medina, listed at 5-foot-6, accumulated 1,524 points in 78 games at Knox, good for a 19.5 per-game average. She reached 30-plus points five times in Knox’s 13-13 season, registering a career-high 40 points on Jan. 27, 2026, against Illinois College on 12-for-18 shooting and 11-for-14 free throws.
Originally from Tucson, Arizona, Medina brings depth and scoring to Jan Jensen’s 2026-27 Hawkeyes roster. Medina made 46.9% of her shots last season, including 35.6% from 3-point range (21-for-59) on low volume, and sizzled at 86.9% from the free-throw line while earning nearly nine attempts per game. She also averaged 5.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.7 steals as a junior.
Certainly, it’s a major jump in competition from the Midwest Conference (Knox is a private college in Galesburg, Illinois) to the Big Ten Conference, so expectations will be tempered for Medina’s lone season at Iowa.
She is the fourth transfer-portal pickup for the Hawkeyes this cycle, joining Georgia guards Dani Carnegie and Jocelyn Faison and Oklahoma State wing Amari Whiting. As it stands, Medina and Whiting will be the only seniors on the squad, which is now 10 strong.
