The final record for Miamisburg in 2025 was a reflection of the frustration of coming so close on many occasions. Miamisburg’s defense kept their side in many games, but five losses by 10 points or fewer made for a tough season.
“A few plays here and there is the way it always goes,” second-year head coach Matt Muncy said. “The GWOC is no joke … so there’s no pushovers on our schedule. We got to bring it every single week and just the margin for error is very small.”
Those lessons are being carried over into preparation for this season where some familiar faces return and a new offense hopes to lighten the burden the Vikings’ defense faced.
“We have a lot more leaders, a lot of senior captains, a lot more of a player-led team this year for sure,” senior JJ Cook said.
The program isn’t far removed from success. Miamisburg won a playoff game in 2023. This year’s group has to travel to the three league favorites, but plays the other four league mates at home.
With the amount of buy-in Muncy said he has seen in the offseason, he can’t wait to see if his team can flip close losses to their favor.
“It’s time to get more wins and starting believing in the community,” senior Brayden Carpenter said.
