SWARTZ CREEK, Mich. (WLNS) – Haslett-Williamston girls lacrosse continues defeats Saginaw Heritage 16-11, as the Vikings win their fourth-straight regional title.
After the Vikings took an early 3-0 lead, the Hawks responded with three-straight points of their own but Haslett-Williamston would respond right back and never looked back after taking the 4-3 lead.
“We really stuck together through it all,” said Haslett-Williamston senior midfielder Abby Russell. “You can’t turn on your teammates when it gets tough, when you face adversity and I think we as a team do a really good job of just picking each other up and keeping that energy.”
Over the last four seasons, the Vikings have fallen short in the semifinals but will look to change their luck in the next round and believes her team can get it done it they stay true to who they are.
“Getting over that mental block of the state semifinals and just really believing in themselves that they’re a talented team and that if they play for one another they can really excel and push themselves to hopefully win that game,” explained Haslett-Williamston girls lacrosse coach Kaili Miller.
Haslett-Williamston will take on East Grand Rapids on June 3rd at 7:00p.m. The game will be played at East Lansing High School with a spot in the state finals on the line.
