For the first time all season, BYU finds itself outside of the AP Top 25 poll.

Following a pair of losses to unranked UCF and West Virginia this past week, the Cougars tumbled down to the first spot outside of Monday’s latest rankings with 74 total points from voters.

BYU opened the year at No. 8 in the preseason rankings and had remained in the top 25 every week since then.

When factoring in the end of the 2024-25 campaign, the Cougars had been ranked for 21 consecutive polls prior to Monday’s slide.

Five Big 12 squads appeared in Monday’s poll: No. 2 Arizona, No. 6 Iowa State, No. 7 Houston, No. 10 Texas Tech and No. 14 Kansas. Both UCF and TCU received votes as well.

Coming in one spot behind BYU outside the top 25 is former Cougars head coach Mark Pope and his Kentucky squad, while Utah State picked up 10 points from voters.

BYU will face Cincinnati on the road Tuesday before returning to Provo for the regular-season finale against Texas Tech.
