The Hartford Yard Goats offer a taste of spring every March—not on the diamond, but on the plate.
Every year, Yard Goats executive chef Joe Bartlett and his team showcase an array of outlandish food items meant to tempt fans.
“We started in January with some of these concepts," said Bartlett, who is going into his ninth year at Dunkin' Park in Hartford.
Bartlett is always looking to push the envelope. This year's menu features a "Bird Dog," which is a hot dog with chicken tenders; donut chip nachos; and a cinnamon bun bacon BBQ Swiss burger.

The Yard Goats' Conor Geary, known to fans as "Game Day Conor," described the new food options as "big, wild [and] crazy enough to try."
Plenty of fans are expected to order the “Frycuterie," which is made of loaded tater squares along with cheese curds, french fries and pickle spears, served with boom boom sauce and ranch dressing. Another choice is the "Aloha Chicken Sando," a chicken thigh coated in a sweet chili sauce, with a pineapple slice and jalapeno, and served in a burger bun.
“Everything is centered around the fan experience and that’s what we do and we do that very well," Geary said. "That’s why we are always excited to unleash the new iterations of our food items."
On Monday, Bartlett stood by a newly plated 2-foot-long “Summer Dog,” a hot dog wrapped in bacon and topped with pico de gallo.
“I like the excitement," Bartlett said. "You get to see everyone again, the lights turn on and it’s just all this gearing up."
