Oscar Gistau has long been tipped to make the breakthrough at Barcelona and will be handed the chance to impress Hansi Flick during pre-season.
According to Diario Sport, the 18-year-old will join Hamza Abdelkarim and Ebrima Tunkara for the start of pre-season with the first team and will be given the chance to show Hansi Flick what he can do.
La Masia has struggled to produce quality strikers but it’s hoped Gistau can buck that trend. Injuries have disrupted his progress in recent seasons, and the hope is that he can now stay fit and progress.
Barcelona’s pre-season is due to start while the World Cup is still in progress, giving Flick a great opportunity to look at some of the club’s younger players.
Gistau has already been pencilled in to play a big role for Barcelona Atletic next season, along with Abdelkarim, and the club clearly have high hopes for the teenager.
