Hansi Flick hails Lamine Yamal and Marc Bernal after Barcelona’s win over FC Copenhagen

Barcelona boss Hansi Flick was full of praise for Lamine Yamal and Marc Bernal after Wednesday’s Champions League win over Copenhagen that sealed a top eight spot.

Yamal scored and assisted to help fire Barcelona to victory but Flick once again hailed the teenager”s defensive contribution.

“He also has to adapt, now the opponents always have one, two or even three players to cover him. He’s doing great. His speed in the first goal was incredible and he gave an important pass and then his goal to come back,” he told reporters.

“Not only in attack, he has also improved a lot in defense, I remember a recovery of his that was very important. He has done very well and I am very happy, he has an incredible fantastic quality. He holds the ball in every direct duel and it’s something very important for us.”

Bernal came on at half-time to replace Eric Garcia, and Flick was happy with his performance.

“Marc played a fantastic game, but we see it in all the training sessions. He has the potential to improve even more, we all know that he is a fantastic footballer,” he added.

“With great technique, how he controls the game, how he holds the ball, his passes… He had a fantastic second half, but he must improve a little physically, because he had a very important injury and coming back is always difficult.”

Bernal certainly impressed in the second 45 minutes and will be pushing for more game time in the second half of the season.
