Purdue finds itself in the strange position of needing both a president and an AD at the same time. The president of course plays a hand in the hiring of the AD, so should the president be hired first? Or should you run the searches concurrently and hope for the best candidates for each role? My opinion you ask? I don’t want Mitch Daniels making the AD hire because he won’t be the one who has to live with the consequences of that choice. I know that the president is not the sole decision maker, but it’s an important voice and as the future head of the university I feel that person should have the say.
Then, with football ramping up, it’s time to ask which unit we hope will be the most improved. There are a number of position groups that have seemed to have updated the available talent, but will that translate onto the field? Purdue had a lot of problems last season on the field and surely they will need to improve at every position group in order to be competitive this season.
Results will come later in the week.
