I look at Washington in a similar light as Lawrence Timmons who is doing just fine in Pitt as a WILB. Similar skill sets with Washington a little more aggresive probably.
But Timmons works because he has a 330 pound monster in front of him. If Timmons didnt have Hampton in front of him he would be a complete bust right now. Plus Timmons is 5 pounds heavier and 1 inch shorter which makes him considerably more stocky ro more stout then Washington. It also took Timmons a full two years before he gained the strength to be a full time starter.
So if we did get Washington who isn't a bad prospect I would fully expect him to not start for a full year to year and a half until he gained 8+ pounds minimum, gained strength, and we found a good fatty to put in front of him. That is a lot of variables and patience to have for a 1st round pick IMO. If we had an already established fat boy in front my tune might be a little different.
As of right now I think the Cards are hoping hard that Dan Williams or Sean Weatherspoon will be available. After that I have no clue what direction they would go.
