One of the players the Tennessee Titans are counting on to take a significant step forward in 2026 is second-year tight end Gunnar Helm, who is being counted on to take on a larger role in 2026.
Like much of the 2025 rookie class, Helm flashed potential, carved out a solid niche in the offense, and was the most consistent and reliable tight end on the roster at the end of the season. Now, with Chig Okonkwo in Washington, Tennessee, is hoping that Helm can continue to develop and become an even bigger threat.
On Thursday, Helm met with the media at the end of the ninth OTA session and revealed how he is approaching his second season.
“Yeah, I mean, I come in here just like a rookie. I mean, it’s almost like a nothing-to-lose mindset, except, you know, playing more freely, I feel. But as a rookie, to me it really was nothing to lose.”
The Titans brought in Daniel Bellinger at tight end, but there is no doubt that the team will be leaning on Helm to anchor the position in Brian Daboll’s system. Helm proved versatile and consistent, although there is still room for development in his second season.
By taking on this approach, Helm is positioning himself to be a huge part of the offense this season and could be one of the under-the-radar keys to success.
