Guernsey's Abi Galpin has missed out on a place in the semi-finals of the women's 200m at the 2026 Commonwealth Games.

The Guernsey record-holder, 25, was unable to match her success of four years ago when she made it through the heats.

Galpin finished fifth in her heat in a time of 24.45 seconds, 0.63secs off her island record.

She ended in 25th overall, eight places and 0.57secs off a spot in the semi-finals.

Her Commonwealth Games are not over - she still has the long jump to compete in which starts on Friday.

"It was great to be out there, I really enjoyed the crowd and the support," Galpin told BBC Guernsey.

"I think I got a decent start. I probably would have hoped for a quicker time, but it is what it is, and it was great to be out on such a quick track and race such fast girls."
