CLEVELAND — The Guardians are hosting the Minnesota Twins on Monday, April 28, at Progressive Field in the opener of a four-game series.
The Guardians (15-12) are in second place in the AL Central Division behind the Detroit Tigers (18-10). The Kansas City Royals (14-15) are third in the AL Central, the Twins (12-16) are fourth the Chicago White Sox (7-21) are fifth.
The Guardians enter the day with a two-game losing streak. The Guardians split a doubleheader with the Boston Red Sox on Saturday, April 26 and then lost 13-3 on Sunday, April 27.
The Guardians won the first game of Saturday's doubleheadler and the Red Sox won the second game. The teams were scheduled to play Friday, April 25, but the game was postponed to Saturday afternoon because of inclement weather.
Cleveland compiled a three-game sweep of the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park from April 18-20, and defeated the New York Yankees on Monday, April 21, and Tuesday, April 22 and lost on Wednesday, April 23. Cleveland beat New York 6-4 Monday and 3-2 Tuesday. New York avoided a three-game sweep with a 5-1 win Wednesday.
