The Cleveland Guardians have spent a long time trying to solve the catcher position.

There solution might currently be at Triple-A Columbus, and his name is Cooper Ingle.

The problem is that Cleveland doesn't necessarily seem like Ingle's promotion is imminent.

Just a week ago, they wanted to replace Bo Naylor and send him back down, but rather than calling up Ingle, they negotiated a notable trade for San Francisco Giants catcher Patrick Bailey.

Bailey is a top-notch defender, but he can't really hit. The Guardians pinch-hit Austin Hedges, not a notably strong hitter, for Bailey in recent action, so it's clear the bats behind the plate still aren't up to par.

Would Ingle solve that? His Triple-A numbers certainly suggest he could.

Cooper Ingle 3-run homer.

His OPS is now 1.199 in Triple-A.

The Guardians actually have a bit of an odd situation given that Naylor is down at Triple-A, too, so there are a lot of players looking for catcher at bats and only so many to be given.

Ingle, though, seems like he could be the future of the position in Cleveland.

Is the future coming soon? That's what Guardians fans all want to know.
