TE Jermaine Gresham to visit Cards. He always has a contract offer from the Saints already. Would be an upgrade at TE for us!

Needs to be able to pass the physical. Quite a few teams are interested in him besides the Cards. Saints already offered him a contract per Schefter.

Bengals free-agent TE Jermaine Gresham will the visit Arizona Cardinals this week, per source. Saints already... http://fb.me/7K52Ql67U

I'm just pleased that the Cards are going after him. Basically admitting that Niklas is not the answer at TE

I would love to see a Gresham/Fells TE combo. 2 beasts that can block and be a threat downfield. Especially with Palmer at QB. He is much better than Dalton. Just afraid that he might be enticed by having Brees to throw to him. Can't see the Saints being any good this year losing Graham. Hope he sees that the Cards are SB contenders and inks with us

We are thin at te and have no experience at the position. I don't think signing a veteran says anything about niklas

Totally agree. Niklas lost lots of time during his rookie season due to injuries. He is currently at Carson Palmers camp/house learning the system.

I don't think you can draw that conclusions n at all. You need more than one TE.

Not that I liked the Niklas pick, but signing Gresham has very little to do with Niklas's status on the team. Whether or not Gresham pans out (and who knows how bad his back is after surgery), Niklas will still be on the team for at least one more season. Teams simply don't jettison 2nd round picks after one year, particularly those who play very little in year 1 due to injuries.

Agree. Just sucks if we can't land JG and then have to hope that Niklas can step it up

Cards currently have $7.2 million avaialbe in cap space while the Saints have $3.2 Million. Cards can pay more if they really want him.

If the cards pay him more than $2mil coming off of back surgery, Keim should be flogged.

From Urban's blog.

The Cards have Darren Fells and Troy Niklas as blocker-first-types. Veteran combine signee Ifeanyi Momah — who has been working with Palmer in Palmer’s San Diego workouts — has looked good as a receiver in non-padded OTAs and minicamp.

Gresham would be more of a receiver type & veteran.

Gresham is -- at best -- a league-average TE. Wasn't an impact player in Cincy despite investing a first-round pick in him. And I say this as a guy who loved Gresham coming out of Oklahoma. Career disappointment. If you can't make a niche for yourself as a receiver when AJ Green is drawing all the attention, you probably can't play in this league.

gresham is certainly a bit disappointing so far considering the expectations he had coming out from college
but calling him average at best seems excessive

Hmm... JG has averaged 56 catches for 544 yards and 4.8 TDs in 5 seasons. I'll take his mediocrity every day of the week and twice on Sunday! He's the anti-dude.
