Jun. 5—The Illinois women's basketball team have circled back on .
This after the four-star Class of 2028 combo guard reopened her recruitment on Monday, with 5-foot-10 native of Clinton, Iowa, announced on Twitter that she decommitted from Stanford.
That meant the Illini reoffered Guy.
"Thankful for the opportunity to reconnect with the staff (at Illinois women's basketball)," Guy wrote on Thursday on Instagram. "I'm grateful to still hold an offer from such a prestigious program. Thank you for your continued support and belief in me."
The post was liked by Illinois coach . It's no surprise the Illini were among many top power-conference teams to show interest in Guy again given her status as a top-20 recruit. Guy is rated as high as No. 16 in her 2028 class on ESPN's "SportsCenter NEXT Super 60" recruiting board.
Guy led the River Kings to the regional championship game of the Class 4A Iowa playoffs with Clinton finishing with a 15-9 record after falling one win shy of reaching the state tournament following a 72-56 loss to Clear Creek-Amana on Feb. 24. Guy missed the season-ending loss by Clinton with a hamstring injury.
Still, Guy had a monster sophomore year for Clinton, averaging 24.4 points, 2.1 rebounds 1.8 assists and 3.3 steals per game while shooting 41 percent from the field overall, 36 percent from three-point range and 90 percent at the free-throw line. Guy had an impressive 87 made three-pointers during the 2025-26 season.
Guy, who also competes on the AAU circuit for Mac Irwin Fire, recently just missed the final cut to play for Team USA at the 2026 FIBA U17 Women's World Cup, which is scheduled for July 11-19 in Brno, Czechia. Guy, who participated in team trials in Colorado Springs, Colo., made the initial cut of 22 before the final 12-player team was announced on May 24.
Illinois is one of 15 high-major teams to re-affirm their interest in Guy since she reopened her recruitment with Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon, Southern California and reigning champion UCLA among the other teams in the Big Ten to re-offer her. Guy has also received renewed interest from Florida, Kentucky, Mississippi State and Oklahoma from the SEC, Big 12 programs Arizona State and TCU and ACC teams Clemson, Louisville and Miami.
What would be interesting, however, if the Illini ultimately landed Guy is that it would make for a pair of Clinton natives with the Illinois program, as Guy comes from the same hometown as Illinois' fifth-year coach in Green.
