The Bulldogs golf team hosted the 77th Annual Batesville Invitational Saturday at Hillcrest Golf and Country Club with a field of 12 teams. Batesville edged New Palestine for the team title. The Bulldogs finished with 325 and the Dragons finished with 329.
Corydon Central was third with 333 followed by Franklin County 342, East Central 347, Mt. Vernon 347, Scottsburg 353, Shelbyville 369, Charlestown 370, Madison 371, Greensburg 388 and Oldenburg Academy was incomplete.
Batesville was led by Landon Raver, Jon Moody and Ian Hixson, all carding 77 for the 18-hole event. Cooper Phebus finished with 94 and Caleb Laker had a 103. Cade Rienschield shot 98 and Jax Negovetich had a 103 playing as individuals.
Greensburg was led by Harrison Yu with 93. Reece Chapman was a shot back with 94. Luke Schwering had a 99. Logan Simpson finished with 102 and Logan Fisse had a 105.
Corydon Central’s Eli Rowland was the low individual with 74. New Palestine’s Luke Cofer was next with 75.
Rushville
Rushville’s golf team continues to trend in the right direction. Saturday, the Lions competed in the Connersville Invitational at Arbor Crossing Golf Course and Rushville turned in another season low score of 377.
The new team score is 15 shots better than the previous mark this season. The score of 377 placed the Lions fifth in the invitational.
The Lions were once again led by Ryder Flannery. Flannery carded a new personal best 77 and tied for the low round. A tiebreaker was played for medalist and Connersville’s Trey Hughes edged Flannery on the third playoff hole.
Landon Cain finished with a personal best 92 (13 shots better). Madden Meek turned a strong first 18-hole event performance with a 102. Kanyon Sparks carded a 106 and Tressler Owens shot 107.
