When Steve Kerr returns to the sideline for the Golden State Warriors next season, he will be doing so without his top two assistant coaches.

Terry Stotts and Jerry Stackhouse are both departing the Warriors, according to ESPN's Anthony Slater. Like Kerr, both of their contracts expired at the end of the 2025-26 season, but unlike Kerr, they didn't sign new contracts with the organization. Both guys had been in the sideline in Golden State for the past two seasons.

Jerry Stackhouse, Terry Stotts leaving Warriors to pursue head coaching opportunities

Stotts and Stackhouse will both pursue head coaching opportunities elsewhere.

From ESPN:

Stotts informed Kerr late in the regular season that he didn't intend to return and told ESPN he is leaving the Warriors on good terms and remains open to NBA head coaching opportunities. ... Before joining the Warriors, Stackhouse was the head coach of Vanderbilt for five seasons. He is leaving to pursue head coaching opportunities elsewhere, league sources said. Warriors forward Draymond Green recently suggested Stackhouse for the North Carolina head job before the school hired former Nuggets coach Michael Malone.

Stotts, who has previously served as the head coach of the Atlanta Hawks, Milwaukee Bucks and Portland Trail Blazers, said that he enjoyed his time in Golden State.

"I enjoyed my time with Steve, the staff and players," Stotts said. "My two years there were fulfilling. Nothing but well-wishes."

Andre Iguodala and Willie Green were both mentioned as potential replacements on the bench in Golden State by Brett Siegel of Clutch Points.
