Seam bowlers Tom Norton and Ned Leonard are missing from Glamorgan's Metro Bank One Day Cup opener against Sussex at the Gnoll, Neath, on Wednesday, 22 July.

Norton suffered an unspecified injury in England Under-19s training while Leonard has not played for six weeks because of a shoulder problem.

It is a setback for Norton's progress after claiming a hat-trick and a five-wicket haul in his first month in the Championship team.

The absences mean a first call-up for Connor O'Riordan, an Australian fast bowler who has had extensive trials for the second team.

England Under-19s wicket-keeper/batter Harry Wallace is included for the first time in a senior squad, while young batters Callum Nicholls and Jack Hope-Bell could make competitive debuts.

As expected, veterans Colin Ingram and Chris Cooke are rested, while Billy Root is a surprise absentee, but experienced seamer Timm van der Gugten is in the squad despite a heavy workload.

Andy Gorvin leads the side for the first time in the absence of regular skipper Kiran Carlson, among five players involved with The Hundred franchise tournament.

Glamorgan won the competition in 2021 and in 2024 and David Harrison, who was in charge for the first of those triumphs, will again guide Glamorgan's efforts while a host of players are occupied with The Hundred.

Glamorgan squad: Hurle; Gorvin (capt), O'Riordan, Nicholls, Morris, Hope-Bell, Ul Hussan, Smale, McIlroy, Horton, Van Der Gugten, Franco, Wallace, Douthwaite, Byrom.
