Giants signing former Seahawks sixth-round pick after 8-player tryout

The New York Giants are not done making roster moves ahead of their first preseason game, which is just over a week away.

Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports that the Giants are signing cornerback DJ James following an eight-player workout on Tuesday.

The Giants are signing CB DJ James, who worked out today, per source. James was a sixth-round pick by the Seahawks out of Auburn in 2024. He has appeared in one game for the Patriots in two seasons. He most recently played in the UFL this spring.

• OL Max Scharping

James, an Auburn product, was selected by the Seattle Seahawks with the No. 192 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft and was waived before the start of that season.

The 25-year-old spent time with the New England Patriots from 2024-25, appearing in one game last season and recording one tackle.

The Giants are adding James to a cornerback room headlined by Paulson Adebo, Greg Newsome, Andru Phillips, Deonte Banks and rookie Colton Hood. He will get the chance to vie for a role on the team this summer as training camp wears on.
