New York Giants' new pass rusher Abdul Carter is still pondering his jersey number options. The Penn State Nittany Lions product is expected to leave a huge mark on the New Yorkers, but the number he'll wear to start his NFL career remains a huge question mark.
Shortly after he was drafted with the No. 3 overall pick, Carter floated the idea of asking Lawrence Taylor to allow him to use his iconic No. 56, but the legend strongly rejected it, saying Carter should use any other number and make it legendary himself.
Phil Simms appeared to be willing to give Carter his No. 11, but he was outvoted by his family, leaving the defensive end with nothing.

As the Giants kick off their 2025 rookie minicamp, Carter has been assigned a provisional number. He will be accompanied by QB Jaxson Dart (No. 25 overall pick), DT Darius Alexander (No. 65 overall pick), RB Cam Skattebo (No. 105 overall pick), OL Marcus Mbow (No. 154 overall pick), TE Thomas Fidone II (No. 219 overall pick) and CB Korie Black (No. 246 overall pick).
The team announced the numbers they'll wear in this minicamp, with Carter going with the No. 51 jersey. They clarify that the numbers are subject to change.

New York has a solid group of young players who could make some noise next season and show that the team is on the right track.
