The New York Giants have incurred three torn Achilles tendon injuries this spring so far. Rookie cornerback Thaddeus Dixon, defensive end Roy Robertson-Harris and kick returner Gunner Olszewski have all gone down in various situations on different surfaces.

On Wednesday, after the team completed their ninth of 10 scheduled OTAs, Harbaugh was asked whether he planned to change or reassess anything.

"We have looked at it. We haven't changed anything. We've added things," he said. "It's definitely a great point."

"One thing I've learned, we have Dr. (Scott) Rodeo, who is one of the foremost tendon experts in the whole world. Really you look for answers, and there are none. You can't predict tendons hardly at all, let alone Achilles, which are the worst. You just don't know."

Harbaugh then explained what the team did and what their protocol is to help prevent such injuries.

"There's no common dominators with any of the three guys; there’s no common denominators with loads or anything else. There is a common denominator with the movement pattern when they tore it. Kind of a reset, stepping back reset deal that happened. We try to caution our guys against that," he said.

"What we did, we went to technology and we went to testing. Tested all our guys this week. Turn over every stone, all hands on deck. We’re bringing in four new pieces of equipment between strength training equipment and also testing equipment, body movement equipment to try to make sure we can do everything for our players and make it as individualized as we can... That's what you do, you try to tackle it with everything you've got."

That explanation pretty much put the issue to bed. In seasons past, none of the previous head coaches came close to giving the public such a comprehensive response.
