In the end, Donald Trump just couldn't take a hint. Because of course he couldn't.

Already granted the honor of presenting World Cup winner Spain its prize on the podium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, Trump, predictably, lingered way too long around the Spanish's glorious celebration.

As the Spanish players prepared to hoist the World Cup trophy, Trump stayed on the podium with the team. This, to be clear, was purely a moment for the players as they reached the highest summit in the professional sports world. No one else was supposed to be in the picture. But there Trump was, smack dab in the center of the picture/video for something he had no part whatsoever in. It's not about you, man! Even FIFA president Gianni Infantino recognized this dilemma.

Infantino tried to usher Trump off before Spain hoisted the trophy, but ... it was to no avail:

Is anyone surprised Trump didn't have the self-awareness to let Spain have its wonderful moment of a World Cup win all to itself? Well, if you are, you really shouldn't be. Kudos to Infantino for trying to mediate and understand that this was supposed to be for the players, even if he ultimately failed in his endeavor. Welp.
