The 2026 college football season is closer than ever, and we're just 24 days away from the debut of the new era of Kentucky football under coach Will Stein. As we count down the days, we're taking a look at this year's team, and today, we're taking a look at No. 24, Jaden Smith.
Smith is a 6'3", 205 lb defensive back out of Charlotte, North Carolina. As a recruit in the 2024 class, he was a big win for the Wildcats He was rated four stars and ranked as the No. 285 overall player in the 247Sports composite rankings. He had a number of major offers, but chose Kentucky over schools like USC and the Michgan Wolverines.
In his first season, he got onto the field in a few games, but would redshirt. Last year, he became more involved, playing in several games, and was credited with 10 tackles and a quarterback hit.
Heading into the 2026 season, Smith is certain to be a part of the rotation in the secondary. He will likely be the backup at the nickel corner spot, and can move around as needed.
Smith has a tremendous combination of size and talent that isn't coachable. It's likely only a matter of time before he's a starting caliber player, and it should be fun to watch him get there.
