The American people and the culture have had a lasting impact on many soccer fans who have travelled to the country for this summer’s World Cup.
Among them is Germany supporter Bastiand Matti, who received a lot of attention on social media following an interview he did with NBC last week.
Like many travelling fans, Matti has been somewhat surprised by his positive experience in America, and has now shared a follow-up post after he was brought to tears when discussing the US.

World Cup fan says ‘all I saw was kindness’ after crying in interview
In his original interview with NBC, he had high praise for America, and he was similarly complimentary in a new video he has now shared on his own X/Twitter account.
In the video itself, the German soccer fan stated: “I never thought my NBC interview would reach so many people. When I saw it being shared everywhere, I honestly thought people would make fun of me for crying.
“Instead, all I saw was kindness. Big thanks to Bob and his family, and thanks to everyone who reminded me just how kind and welcoming Americans really are. Thank you so much.”
He added in the caption of the tweet: “I honestly didn’t see this coming… Bob and so many other Americans I met proved some of my assumptions wrong. Thank you for your warmth, your hospitality, and all the love you’ve shown me.”
Aside from Matti’s kind words, New York City was given a glowing review by a travelling Scottish supporter.
Elsewhere, we have seen the American people praised for their positive impact during the 2026 World Cup, while one England fan has even toured part of the White House during his time in the US.
