Georgia basketball guard signs with Portuguese team

Georgia Bulldogs basketball guard Justin Bailey has found a professional basketball home. Bailey helped Georgia make the NCAA Tournament during the 2025-2026 college basketball season. The Bulldogs lost in the first-round of March Madness to Saint Louis.

Bailey did not get selected in the 2026 NBA draft. With the NBA summer league going on, Bailey elected to go a different route. Bailey signed with Esgueira, who is a team in the Portuguese basketball league.

Bailey joins Esguiera, who has several other Americans on their roster. Esguiera finished the 2025-2026 season with a record of 9-13. Esguiera is expect to start the 2026-2027 season in Oct. 2026.

Bailey averaged 12.7 minutes per game with Georgia during the 2025-2026 season. The 6-foot-3 guard averaged 4.2 points, 1.4 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game in 31 appearances with UGA. Bailey spent the first two years of his college career at USC Upstate before transferring to Wofford and then Georgia.
