Ha! That second Buddy Rich clip is sick in that it's Rich as his over-the-top best. Been working on my grip as of late to get the fingers working like Buddy did. When your grip is right, the sticks do all the work for you.

This is the solo that inspires me, though, especially Vinnie's stuff. Vinnie is like second-generation Tony Williams, and Tony (even today) is mind blowing by himself.

I've always favored Krupa but that is probably based on Benny Goodman's "Sing, Sing, Sing" being one of my favorite recordings of all time.

Saw Buddy Rich with Sinatra at the old Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre mid 1980's-ish.
They were two old guys but they still swung.
