Gasperini insists on summer preseason in mountains

Ryan Friedkin is in Trigoria, and Gian Piero Gasperini has outlined a series of topics to discuss with Roma’s vice president.

These range from choosing the next sporting director to replace Frederic Massara, to transfer strategies, the organization of the summer training camp, and even a shakeup of the coaching and medical staff.

The Grugliasco-born coach would like to take the team to the mountains instead of England, conducting the usual training camp he was accustomed to at Atalanta.

At Trigoria, they’re considering a few locations: Switzerland and Austria are possible.

However, time is limited, and they need to move quickly, as on other hot topics.

Gasperini is used to working with a small staff, and ahead of next season there will be significant staff cuts.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, he no longer wants to work with the men inherited from Ranieri, with Sergio Spalla and Claudio Spignoli being the first on the list to be dismissed.

The medical department will also undergo changes. Stefano Petrucci, another trusted man of Sir Claudio, is now in charge, and Gasperini wants to distance himself from him. Riccardo Del Vescovo, a former Roma doctor who spent years at Atalanta, where he also worked with the Grugliasco-born coach, could return to Roma.

The revolution is about to begin; now it’s important to speed things up.
