Same squads, different year on the women’s lacrosse world’s biggest stage, as No.1-seeded Northwestern faces No. 2-seeded UNC in the 2026 NCAA championship game.
In Friday’s NCAA semifinals, The ’Cats advanced to their fourth-straight championship game with a 16-11 victory over Johns Hopkins, while UNC trounced Maryland 16-6 to become one win away from defending its national championship.
The Wildcats and Tar Heels have developed one of the game’s top rivalries. The teams most recently met on March 26, when the ’Cats beat the Tar Heels in a thrilling 17-16 overtime victory.
With a win today, NU would become the first team since 1986 to win a national title on its home turf.
